About

Navajos originally learned the techniques of silver working from the Spanish and Mexican silversmiths around 1850. Early Navajo silversmiths used the same process as the Mexican blacksmiths to produce iron works. Navajo artists developed their own style and used designs to symbolize their relationship to the world and culture. Navajo silver bridles were made to express a distinctive art form with Navajo symbols and meaning. Many of the silver bridles made by Navajo silversmiths are decorated with turquoise.

Turquoise, a gem found in the southwestern United States, has a variety of meanings for pueblo peoples and is often associated with blue sky. New Mexico's turquoise is world renowned.

Blue Horse Silver Bridles are made by Navajo silversmiths with sterling silver, turquoise and other stones, such as jet, coral and shell. The bridles are made in the Navajo style, Spanish style, and cowboy ranch style. Some bridles are collectors pieces while others are made to use for showing off your beautiful horse.
